
Dr. Dale Kooistra is a board certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon with over 30 years of experience and offers general, surgical and cosmetic treatments. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has a B.A. from Hope College in Michigan and a Ph.D. in chemistry from California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in immunology at Stanford University Medical School before attending medical school there. After medical school, Dr. Kooistra finished a year of internal medicine residency at San Jose Valley Medical Center before his dermatology residency at Stanford University Hospital.
Dr. Kooistra has special interest in the areas of Medical Dermatology, Surgical Dermatology, and Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Procedures.
Dr. Kooistra lives in San Diego with his wife and their dogs and cats. On the weekends he can be found on the golf course.

Dr. Rishu Gupta is a board-certified Dermatologist
Dr. Kooistra is delighted to welcome Dr. Rishu Gupta to his dermatology practice. As many of you know Dr. Kooistra has been looking for a doctor to join his practice for the last couple of years so he can spend more time with his wife, dogs, and golf.
He is proud to introduce Dr. Gupta an experienced dermatologist that shares Dr. Kooistra’s passion to offer great medical care in an inviting environment.
Dr. Rishu Gupta is a San Diego native who appreciates the opportunity to help with all of the skin care needs of his community. He specializes in medical dermatology, skin cancer treatment and cosmetic dermatology. He has published several (20+) articles in medical journals and textbooks including in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Skin Of Color, and Cosmetic Dermatology. He has also been invited to speak and present his research at several national conferences.
Prior to working with Dr. Dale Kooistra in Poway, he practiced for close to 5 years at the Scripps Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery clinic in La Jolla and was a partner/collaborator with the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center. During his free time, he enjoys golfing , playing tennis, and exploring San Diego with his wife, who is a practicing psychiatrist.
Dr. Gupta went to Torrey Pines High School in San Diego and then attended the University of Southern California for both undergraduate and medical school. He was part of the competitive Baccalaureate/ MD program where he was accepted into medical school from high school. He completed his Biomedical Engineering degree at the Viterbi School at USC. Due to his scholarly excellence in medical school, he was able to complete a 1 year clinical research year at the UCSF Psoriasis and skin treatment center. Dr. Gupta went onto complete his dermatology residency at Washington University of St. Louis.
